Permanent Magnet Generator for a Gearless Backyard Wind Turbine

This paper presents the design of a permanent magnet generator for gearless backyard wind turbine. The magnetisation characteristics rotor steel and stator at different field strength ranges were considered stage mathematically described using model in Matlab. detailed calculations planar carried out FEMM software. high-quality results obtained from shown made it possible to make real generator. views package, rotor, entire selected test results. parameter this turbine that distinguishes wide range manufactured generators is its low, non-standard rotational speed low breakaway torque, which allows power plant start winds approximately 2 m/s. Other advantages weight resulting use light alloys housing.
